Scottish Connections

In my own small way of recognizing the 250th anniversary of the Ship Hector arriving in my birth place of Pictou County, Nova Scotia on Sept 15th, 1773, I put together a small page sharing some of my photos showing a few of the Scottish connections visible in NS. In addition, having been fortunate enough to visit Scotland for the first time this summer, I also share my thoughts on that trip and some of the connections to Nova Scotia I realized along the way. Having descended from Scottish ancestry but having not really considered my roots in much detail, it ended up being a more moving experience than I had expected. I hope you enjoy it. 20 Years of Adventure

Carving

We first laid eyes on each other on February 20th 2000 in New Zealand when I Mark came to stay and work in Hastings. When I arrived, Stáňa was sleeping on the bunk in the same hostel room directly across from me …

Little did we realize on that fateful day that our lives would become so wonderfully entangled. Since that day we have gone on countless travel adventures both near and far, got married in a castle in the heart of Europe, and set out on our own having transported our lives to a new location with new jobs. We have gone on to raise two beautiful kids and I look forward to the next 20 years of adventure no matter what it may bring our way. Feeling so blessed for all that we have, and I can not imagine any other live than that which I share with my beautiful wife who I first seen 20 years ago today. Stáňa I love you even more today than 20 years ago if that is possible.

A few pictures of us around NZ shortly after having met

In 2005 I created this wood sculpture as an anniversary gift representing out entwined lives and eternal bond and our connection to New Zealand . It still stands true today, much to my delight.
